CUDDLE OR DIE follows twelve inquisitive yet impressionable masculine-identifying youth and their well-intentioned leader on a wilderness trek through the Canadian Rockies, a landscape reflecting the stoic masculinity they are meant to unlearn. As relentless rain, freezing temperatures and exhaustion set in, the fragile line between bravado and vulnerability is exposed. The group faces a critical decision: turn back or summit the 3220 metre high mountain. From the perspective of a feminist researcher and the only woman on the hike, the film asks “what role do positive masculinity approaches play in addressing patriarchal violence?”Produced by Strong Women CollectiveApproved for fiscal sponsorship by Documentary Australia.
